Existing Together with Photographer Lauren Hanussak
I was lucky enough to receive the ever-so-kind-and-wise gaze of Lauren Hanussak in my office recently. Here are a few of the photos she took of me in my office. I wanted to give you a sense of the vibes of my space and me in it for when we meet for a reading on zoom. I don’t do legs up the wall enough but I asked Laurent to photograph me doing it so that I could remind myself (and maybe you?!) to do it more in between whatever it is you are doing for work!
The most beautiful thing about this photo shoot is how expanded and therefore real her view is. She kept telling me to take a deep breath (of course I didn’t know I was holding my breath). I saw myself and my space through her gracious eyes. She has a presence that’s about embracing all that is, within a person, a body, a human life, and that comes through in her photos. It’s so uncomfortable to be photographed, but I aspire to be like my kids - they have no self-consciousness when it comes to how they appear - they just know they look great! Let’s be like them!!!
