non-metaphorical life

The other day a friend wrote to me and asked if I could look at her kid’s chart in relation to her chart. I laughed so hard and thought, maybe I should write a newsletter / post that’s just describing what I do at Existing Together again. I can’t remember the last time I did that. Because this practice, whatever it is, would exist with or without the business, but I do want people to know what is going on here in a literal biz way, especially my friends hahahaha!

The first thing is the writing practice.

This is where I send out newsletters / write blog posts often once a week. Writing is one of my ways into being with what is right now. After many experiments in paid subscriptions and the landscape of those subscriptions changing so much over the past ten years, for now my writing is free. Partly because I think it’s kind of a pyramid scheme for most of us to try to make a living at writing newsletters, and partly because I want something among the offerings of my business to be free. Therefore I spend most of my time writing things that are not about what I am selling, because I want the writing itself to be useful to you as it is. This is my aspiration, anyway!

THE NEXT THING IS THE ASTROLOGY READINGS.

I offer them for individuals, couples, and/or partners of any kind. I have done readings with teens and their adults, people in various kinds of relationships, adult children with their parent, and most frequently I do readings for parents, where we look at their charts and their children’s charts. When the child is very young, most of the reading is emphasizing the adult’s chart, and how the child’s chart is a set of transformations from Mystery Itself being offered to the adult. The older the child gets, the more we can witness and describe about the ways that each chart is acting on the other. I say “each chart,” as a stand in for this incredible way that we end up being influences for each other that often have very little to do with the kind of influence we think we are having on each other.

Readings help us become humbled, over and over, in the best way. You and I sit together and we look up. We look up in awe, in despair, in annoyance, in confoundment, in reverence, at what life offers. And we humbly wonder at it all. That is what an astrology reading is. (I’ll probably be trying to describe what it is the rest of my life.)

humbly wondering is underrated; it’s essential to our sense of wellbeing in life.

I have previously offered readings that are for three family members at one time, which have been an hour and a half. But as of now I am not offering those anymore. Because my job as the astrologer is to create containers which support your understanding and integration of the information deeply. I’ve found after years of doing these longer readings and trying to fit in multiple family members in one reading, that I don’t I get to do my job the way I feel I should. So, from now on, if you’ve never had a reading with me, we’ll start with just you and one child, or one other person at a time. The follow up readings can include another person, until we’ve looked at each family member in relation to you. And depending on how many people that is, eventually we can talk about everyone at the same time, once we have a foundation of the players and the parts. Astrology is so thorough, so able to articulate such detail in our lives and relationships, and I don’t want to skip over any of it! Please hit me up if you have any questions about this.

The next thing is Remembering Retreats.

I’ve written a few things developing my descriptions of these emergent sessions, icymi, start here. Keep going here. My husband prefers another working title for them, Ego Death Ceremonies. That is also part of it, but somehow I haven’t landed on the right title, so we’ll see where it ends up. These are in person mini-retreats at my physical hearth aka my home studio where we practice dissolving this false distinction between humans and nature and so far it has been a total delight and relief to do so, let me tell ya!

There’s plenty more writing on what this is, forthcoming.

So that’s what’s going on in this business these days! We’ve got a sale going on ($44 off) through November 7, when you use the code SHINE at check out for any kind of astrology reading (not gift certificates, I’ll put those on sale in November.)

In continuance with my making culture exploration this fall, here are three recommendations for magic culture makers.

beit rima: jordanian food in SF. I feel some kind of magic when I eat this food. A miraculous collaboration of species.

This conversation between Amelia Hruby and Bear Hebert is a LIGHT BLAST OF CLARITY regarding capitalism, commerce, business, energy, so much!

The other day in SF I was in Beloved Cafe, a perfect tiny nook in the Mission of SF, full of food and plants and copper kettles aka LIFE! While there I discovered this seed catalog which is also a way to remember what non-metaphorical life is MADE OF. I went home and ordered one immediately, because there’s so much palpable life and love between those pages. Also can cafes bring back the table of books and magazines?! Very good.

Enough for now! Blessings of this moment to you!
